1 abr 2013

Country of the Year 2012 winner is... USA!

The Country of the Year 2012 winner is USA, making this their best result since 2004 when they won last time.
This victory came after winning Miss Universe 2012 crown and placing in MW, MInt'l and ME.

The 2nd place in this year's Country of the Year is, again, for the Philippines, as they were 2nd last year also, this time by the shortest margin between 1st and 2nd since 1998 when there was a tie in the 1st place.
The Asian powerhouse of the decade has had great results this year in MU, Me and MS whith runner-up placement, and making the semis in MW and MInt'l.

And completing this year's top 3 for the Country of the Year competition we found Venezuela, the previous winner who has been winner every year since 2009. We can't say this year has been a bad one for Venezuela: they won Miss Intercontinental and were 2nd runner-up in both MU and ME, plus semifinalist in MInt'l.

As this year there were not Miss TQI pageant, the last points of the 2012 came from Miss Universe pageant, which made the last and most important changes in the global ranking like this:

USA won Miss Universe and jumped from 10th place to the 1st place.
Philippines placed as 1st runner up, jumped from 4th to 2nd.
Venezuela made 2nd runner up spot, then jumped from 6th place to 3rd.
Australia, 3rd runner up in MU, jumped from 5th place to 4th.
Brazil, even though they made 4th runner-up placement on MU, lost 2 position on the ranking, from 3rd place to final 5th place.
Mexico and South Africa made the top 10 by placing on the top 10 of Miss Universe.
Russia jumped from 28th place to the 13th place after being top 10 in MU.
France, from 40th place to 17th place.
Hungary entered the top on the 19th place, and Croatia, Kosovo and Peru made it as well on the 27th place.

And this is the continental winners of 2012:

Country of the Americas:

USA 700 (1st place on the ranking)

Brazil 540 (5th)
Mexico 330 (9th)
